I am highly skeptical of the idea that we are in the presence of space aliens. I am even more skeptical of the idea that we are in the presence of space aliens that are ignoring us. If they are here, then I assume their behavior is constrained by some version of Starfleet's General Order 1, the Non-Interference Directive, aka the Prime Directive.

However, I agree that UAP discloser won't crash society.

Live long and prosper.

I don't think it's possible to keep such a "juicy" fact secret if hundreds (at least) of officials (probably in multiple countries) have known about it for decades.

Sure we can keep the target coordinates of ICBMs secret, but those are *boring* details. We know ICBMs exist and the general sorts of things they're targeted at.

Every ex-President is asked about it and every one has said "not that I heard about", and then stuck to that to their grave. I think at least some would have said something else if the USG knew something.

That doesn't mean Little Green Men aren't around of course (tho I'm doubtful there too). It just means the USG probably isn't hiding them.

There’s another reason to consider—simply that UFO’s, aka aliens from another planet, simply don’t exist. But that of course would limit myriad writings about government conspiracy theories. The present article a case in point.

Even in the case of dismissive human elites/governments, I don't believe there's much they'd need to worry about. Both the group of folks who strongly believe in a UAP coverup and the group in strong disbelief of it are ~combined~ totally dwarfed by the amount who don't give a darn because they, as you say, "are focused on the details of our lives." And say what you might about the culture war implications of elite management of the Covid situation, but even in that case, where there was an immediate and easily legible effect on the lives of the majority, the elites in charge then are still mostly the elites in charge now.

If you have the time and the interest, I'd appreciate seeing you flesh out the idea you hinted at before of these aliens perhaps being quiet, homebody types who are keeping us from making a stir by setting certain subtle examples. Sure, they're more powerful than us (assuming they exist), but if they're quiet then they're likely to be somewhat local, so how much of their resources are devoted to what is essentially the equivalent of filing noise complaints at an apartment complex.

It's been a while since you posted more regularly on UFOs as aliens, so I've forgotten in case you've already answered:

1) What likelihood do you estimate for UFOs/UAPs = aliens?

2) I recall you felt it made most sense to think that aliens are warning us of their strength with UFOs, assuming UFOS = aliens. What do you think of the option that UFOs as aliens are simply remnants of ancient/broken tech?

As I understand it, Robin is more of an expert on the prior rather than the likelihood (current evidence) of UFOs/aliens. This became clear from his work on grabby aliens
