Its not the left who are upset, its the media. They make killers famous and they hurt people till they become killers.

Some leftists liked it. Listen to the Chapo Trap House episode about it, for example.

Yes, but I thought it was (for the mainstream left) peaceful protests. The part I quoted seemed to insinuate that they would also approve of protests involving violence and/or theft or destruction of property (depending on the target, of course).

Interesting there was/is suddenly riots and unrest in Chile, apparently it "just happened". The billionaire president seems to panic and promise some rollback of prices and of the privatization of the healthcare service. We will have to see if they follow through though.

Leftists generally favor grass roots political protests by the downtrodden.

"Even if the rich and powerful have been mean to the poor and weak, wild angry rioters just make things worse. As Tyler says, “it is the most anti-Leftist movie I have seen, ever”."

Are leftists generally in favor of wild riots (to advance their favored causes)?

Sailer posited that perhaps the Great Awokening was a response to Occupy Wall Street:

The conspiracy theory is that the emergence of a socialist protest movement three years after the economic collapse of 2008 terrified the rich. But they noticed that Occupy was easily distracted from its class warfare by its urge to indulge the perpetually wounded feelings of the “progressive stack.” The more intersectional Pokémon Points that would-be speakers possess, the more likely they are chosen to orate.Rich white guys, who aren’t dumb, would have quickly figured out that their biggest worry is not-rich white guys. In contrast, privileging more intersectional personalities, such as black women, tended to get leftists sidetracked from discussing confiscatory taxes into passionate diatribes about how white Beckys were dissing their Afros. This theory that Woke Capital cynically conspired to divide and conquer economic leftism by promoting the Great Awokening sounds plausible enough. Certainly, Bernie Sanders feels that now-fashionable notions like reparations and open borders are millstones around the necks of any Democrats’ seriously hoping to stick it to the billionaires.https://www.takimag.com/art...

This fits well with the reaction to Joker vs. 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. Both portrayed multiracial lumpenprole movements against the elites which were led by a white man. The Left in 2012 saw The Dark Knight Rises as a portrayal of, and attack on, their movement just as Tyler sees Joker.
